spiderweb
i took some pictures of the morning sun illuminating the dew on the spiderwebs
i couldn' t come close enough to frame the shot adequately, so i had to make decisions about how to crop the picture afterwards
this is how i decided to 'arrange' the elements within the frame
i wanted to 'escape' the standard 4:3 format and chose a frame that truly 'honors' my main subject
i like the large upper curve of the web from the middle left to the top right corner and the smaller, steeper curve at the right top side of the web
i also like the way the threads are wide apart on the bottom left and close together on the top right
berries
somewhat later i discovered these nightshade-bittersweet berries
they were hanging above the water so i could' t get a proper close-up
i decided to put the berries in the right side of the frame, leaving some of the contrasting bright light green foliage visible
i really like the way the almost translucent red of the berries catches the eye while the left half of the image is faded and blurry
and i love the small dewdrop under one of the berries, right in the middle of the frame, containing an upside down mirror-image of the landscape
